This was just something that I was experimenting with while trying to emulate a piece that I saw on a tutorial site. Nothing too complicated here. Just some brushes and layer blending. More than anything, I did this to get over my fear of the pen tool. I hate that thing.

Well. Doesn't looks like you've used the pen tool that much though. Only for the black ground and the stripes. And by the way, It looks just like the turorial.
